CLEAR-CUTTING
The most common form of post processing required for product shots is clear-cutting (sometimes called deep etching). This involves the complete removal of the backdrop or background from the subject and allows the product to be shown against a clean white background, other colour or scene or placement with other products.

RETOUCHING
Other retouching activities can include, the addition or removal of shadows or reflections, the addition of gradients, colour replacements, selective adjustments to emphasise logos or brands, retouching to remove unwanted aspects, such as surface defects and replacement of text or other packaging elements.

COMBINING MULTIPLE CAPTURES
Very often a product cannot be properly captured in one image. In cases where the product may be very reflective, for example, we may digitally combine multiple shots captured with different lighting schemes or backdrop elements to produce one product image. If the packaging is flawed, (crooked labelling, effects of manufacturing defects etc) we may take more than one photograph to combine different aspects of it to produce one flawless product image.

ABSOLUTE CONSISTENCY
Wayfarer uses a range of photographic and lighting schemes depending on the type of product to be photographed. For regular customers who may need to photograph dozens or hundreds of products a year, we create customised setups and keep detailed records so that every repeat product image conforms to the same angle, proportion and general appearance as all the previous images. We also check previous images held on file to ensure absolute consistency with what has been done before and create document templates for final output, to make certain that images are supplied at the same required size every time.
